One of the major summer events in Kitzbühel is the Kitzbühel Alpine Rally, which takes place for the 28th time this year from May 27 to 30, 2015.
The originally planned tour to the Salzkammergut on Friday had to be rescheduled due to route work - but many other highlights now await the rally participants: The particularly scenic Salzburgerland with the mountain giants between the Kitzbühel Alps, Hochkönig, Hohe Tauern, Loferer Steinberge, Dachstein and, above all, the breathtaking mountain stage on the Rossfeld will reward the 180 or so teams with magnificent Alpine panoramas.
Popular and well-known for 26 years
The Alpine Rally has been one of the most popular classic car events in Europe since 1988. The unique mixture of dreamlike Alpine scenery, breathtaking mountain routes, exclusivity, sporting challenge and the flair of the Gamsstadt make the event a very special classic car rally and a meeting place for many prominent participants from racing, show business, business and sport every year.
Historic mountain race tracks
Of course, many spectacular Alpine stages are once again the focus of the route planning. With selective mountain routes with a rich motorsport history such as the Hochkönigstrasse, the Rossfeld and the Tatzelwurm route on the Sudelfeld, the 2015 Alpenrallye offers new, scenic and interesting routes. Around 600 kilometers in Tyrol, Salzburg, Upper Austria and Bavaria have to be mastered over three days of competition. There are two categories: Sport Trophy (sporty) and Classic Trophy (pleasure riders).
New year of construction limit 1972
1972 is the new year of construction limit for participating vehicles (previously 1985). The Alpenrallye is thus taking a step back in the direction of "classic" cars, a step that also corresponds to the philosophy of the traditional rally. Classic cars from six decades of automotive history will conquer the mountains at the 28th Alpenrallye, including major brands such as Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce: magnificent pre-war classics, elegant sports cars and precious limousines from automotive history.
