As the Swiss umbrella organization, the SHVF (for "Swiss Historic Vehicle Federation") aims to preserve historic vehicles and the associated environment as a cultural asset. When the SHVF holds its delegates' meeting and there are no surprises, it's a good thing. After all, the formation of the SHVF eight years ago was a rather turbulent affair.
But since then, the new association has proven itself and found its place.
Over 110 delegates and representatives of the press were in Lucerne on April 29, 2023 to vote on or report on the Association's business.
Many of the participants had traveled to the Museum of Transport in Lucerne in a classic car despite the not entirely dry weather.
Business items waved through
Neither the finances nor the reports on technology, events or communication led to any discussions.
President Bernhard Taeschler reported that unfortunately no progress had been made with the authorities regarding research into previous owners of old cars. With regard to the abolition of the emissions document, the mills of the administration are grinding slowly, but at least they are grinding. No information was provided regarding the e-vignette; according to official communication from the federal government, a decision is now expected in the second quarter as to when it will be introduced (in 2023). A definitive plan had actually been promised by the end of March.
Felix Aschwanden also reported that the processing of Fiva passes is now slowly coming under control. Following problems with the software, the global umbrella organization has now promised improvement and hopes to be able to issue 600 FIVA Identity Cards again in 2023 (2017: 530, 2018: 604, 2019: 618, 2020: 631, 2021: 166, 2022: 500). As of the end of April, 152 FIVA passes have already been processed.
The Board was discharged, the budget with the special items IgFS support and Historic Vehicle Days 2024 was confirmed, all unanimously and legally secured by Vice-President Rainer Riek.
Martin Sigrist succeeds Ruedi Müller
After eight years on the Board of Directors, Ruedi Müller stepped down and was immediately elected an honorary member.
Martin Sigrist, born in 1970 and known to many as the Classic editor at Automobil Revue, was elected as his successor.
A prelude to the Historic Vehicle Days 2023
The Historic Vehicle Days will be held in Switzerland for the fourth time on April 29 and 30, 2023. Once again, there will be an increase in the number of events and presumably also participants, a pleasing development.
The SHVF delegates' meeting with its classic cars on site at the Swiss Museum of Transport was a fitting opening event.
Further information is also available on the SHVF website.
