Together with Joe Siffert and Clay Regazzoni, Herbert Müller is one of the most important Swiss racing drivers. With two Targa Florio overall victories and the legendary devil's ride in the Porsche 917 to second place at Le Mans, he is also one of the most successful sports car drivers of the sixties and seventies.
On May 24, 1981, his life came to an early and tragic end at the Nürburgring. The Herbert Müller Memorial Day in the idyllic Swiss mountain region of Gstaad celebrates "Stumpen-Herbie", as Müller was known to fans, on the anniversary of his death and honors his memory.
The organizer is Müller's son Daniel, owner of the popular excursion destination Forellensee Gstaad-Zweisimmen.
The program of the Herbert Müller Memorial Day includes an exhibition of top-class Porsche racing cars, a memorial rally, a Porsche meet, a racing driver meet with legendary racing driver colleagues of Herbie such as Gijs van Lennep, David Piper, Fredi Lienhard, as well as a meeting with the legendaryEdi Wyss, team bosses and fans at a public party with music, drinks and fish and crayfish specialties from the trout lake near Gstaad in Switzerland.
