On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, engines will once again roar at the Oerlikon Open Race Track starting at 4:00 p.m., and for one evening, racing bikes and race cars from the past will take turns on the concrete oval.
As a special attraction this time, Swiss motorsports legend Fredy Lienhard will be honored. This native of Eastern Switzerland combines qualities that rarely go hand in hand: entrepreneurial success, a passion for sports, and social commitment. At just 22 years old, following his father’s death, he took over responsibility for Lista AG—and built the company into an international brand.
At the same time, Lienhard pursued his motorsports dream. In 2002, he capped off his career with a victory at the legendary 24 Hours of Daytona—at the age of 54.
In 2009, he brought to life “Autobau” in Romanshorn, a world of experiences dedicated to automotive culture. Today, Lienhard is also actively involved as a patron and supporter of numerous projects in culture, sports, and education.
Fredy Lienhard embodies passion, a down-to-earth attitude, and responsibility. Or, as he himself says: “There’s no elevator to success.”
In Zurich Oerlikon, Lienhard will once again put the pedal to the metal in three Formula 2 cars from 1974, 1976, and 1978, ensuring an unforgettable moment on the open racetrack.
Please note: In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for Thursday, July 23, 2026.
