Goodwood is delighted to announce the details of the Festival of Speed. The 75th anniversary of the Formula One World Championship will be celebrated from Thursday, July 10 to Sunday, July 13, 2025. Under the motto "The Winning Formula - Champions and Challengers", the Festival of Speed 2025 will once again pay tribute to the heritage of motorsport.
The Festival of Speed is a unique event in the international motorsport calendar to celebrate Formula 1, bringing together the legendary cars, teams, drivers, designers and famous faces that have shaped motorsport as we know it.
Visitors will be given exceptional access to the cars, drivers and teams, giving them the opportunity to see first-hand how the Formula 1 cars are launched before they make their way through the paddocks to take their place at the top of the hill.
Since its first season in 1950, the Formula 1 World Championship has set new standards in terms of speed, technology and design. Formula 1 is presented in its entirety, bringing together the past, present and future of the series.
With over 80 significant cars from the history of Formula 1, the celebrations will focus on six classes: "Prologue", "Pioneers", "Champions", "Innovators", "Underdogs" and Formula 1 Teams.
Prologue
The "Prologue" class offers an insight into the origins of the sport, to a time before Formula 1 even existed. Beginning with the Manufacturers' World Championship of 1925-1927 and the European Driving Championship of the 1930s (both organized by the AIACR, the forerunner of today's FIA), this class showcases the pioneering machines that preceded the Formula One World Championship as we know it, from an era characterized by bold innovation and mechanical artistry.
Pioneers
The "Pioneers" class brings together the monoposti that helped the World Championship make its breakthrough in its first decade and paved the way for the development of the sport. Initially relying heavily on pre-war design, these iconic machines became increasingly sophisticated and laid the foundations for the first rear-engined Grand Prix winner, marking a decisive change in Formula 1 and racing in general.
Champions
The "Champions" class features cars and drivers that epitomize the pinnacle of Formula 1. They represent those who have left a lasting mark on the legacy of the sport.
Innovators
The "Innovators" class focuses on vehicles that have set new performance standards and have been pushed to the limits of their design.
Underdogs
The "Underdogs" class highlights the unexpected challengers and riders who have defied all odds to leave their mark on the sport, celebrating the ingenuity and unexpected triumphs that have so thrilled fans over the years.
Formula 1 teams
Every year, the Festival of Speed welcomes a number of current teams. This final class, which represents the pinnacle of modern motorsport, will showcase the latest in Formula 1 while also providing a glimpse of the future of the series.
