Hardly any other pre-war classic car has shaped the public perception of its type as much as the Ford Model A. Film series such as "The Waltons" have certainly contributed to this. The successor to the equally well-known Ford T model, which was built over 4.7 million times between 1927 and 1931 in a wide variety of body variants, continues to inspire a worldwide fan base to this day.
After all, around 400,000 examples were spared from the scrap press. However, while in the home country of the A model - the USA - a very large and, in many parts of the world and also in Europe, an impressive number of fans organized themselves in Ford A Clubs, Germany was a blank spot on the Ford A map. There was no Ford Model A Club. And this despite the fact that the robust classic car was initially assembled in Berlin and later even manufactured in Cologne.
New IG in Germany
The Ford Model A IG aims to close this gap. Originating from the first German Ford Model A Classic Meeting in Freudenberg, Westphalia, the interest group is currently being set up and sees itself as a supplement to existing Ford classic car clubs.
Over 90 Ford Model A classic cars and their owners have already joined the IG. And the organizers hope that there will be many more. Joining is free of charge and can be done informally by e-mail. There will also be a dedicated website in the future.
Contacts and events
In addition to exchanging experiences and information and promoting contacts among Ford A friends, the IG also organizes numerous events. For example, the annual Ford Model A - Classic Meeting (August 14 to 16, 2020) or the Ford Model A - Summer Tour (June 19 to 24, 2020), a classic car trip lasting several days.

The Ford Model A IG was founded by Alexander Fischbach (38). He is a Ford A driver himself. He bought his first pre-war classic car at the age of 24 (also a Model A). "I always thought it was a shame that there was a lively Ford A scene abroad. But even though there are numerous Ford A models in Germany, there was no club or IG. I wanted to change that. And since nothing changes from regret, I chose the IG as the simplest form of an association. We, the active members of the Ford Model A IG, are happy to welcome anyone who wants to join us and become part of the IG.
