The cars that Emil Frey Classics AG will auction online between September 8 and October 3, 2026, were manufactured between 1946 and 2006.
The selection ranges from Aston Martin to Volkswagen. Cars from Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States are looking for new owners online. Estimated values range from CHF 4,000 to 185,000, so there’s something for every budget.
Rare today but quite common back in the day is a 1968 Ford Taunus 15M TS Coupé, which has been estimated at CHF 7,500 to 10,000.
A 2003 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage with a V12 engine is expected to fetch a slightly higher price, with an estimated value of CHF 40,000 to 45,000.
The red 1967 Porsche 911 2.0 Targa with a fold-down rear window (Soft Window) is expected to fetch between CHF 85,000 and 115,000.
A true rarity is the oldest car in the auction, a 1946 Lea-Francis 14 HP Sports Cowell Special. This extraordinary vehicle was built on a shortened 14-HP chassis and was developed by Cowell & Watson as a prototype for a planned small production run. The elegant bodywork was designed by the young Denis Jenkinson, who, just a few years later, would make motorsport history as Stirling Moss’s co-driver during the legendary 1955 Mille Miglia victory. However, the planned series production never materialized. To the best of our knowledge, only one example and a second chassis were ever built, making the Cowell Special one of the rarest British sports cars of the postwar era. After 4,000 hours of restoration (documented in three ring binders), it is now in superb condition, though it is expected to be worth between CHF 125,000 and 185,000 to its new owner.
And then we absolutely must mention the 1980 VW Golf GTI, which is in good shape with 62,000 km on the odometer and features the popular tartan seats. Bids of CHF 40,000 to 45,000 are expected for this classic.
For bidders, an auction commission of 11% is added to the highest bid (hammer price).
Of course, all cars are documented online. Registration on the website is required to place a bid. Bids on the vehicles offered can be submitted starting September 8 and continuing until the auction ends on October 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The individual vehicle auctions end at staggered intervals of 5 minutes each. If bids are received within the last 3 minutes, the respective auction time is automatically extended by 2 minutes. The lot is automatically awarded to the highest bidder upon expiration of the respective auction time.
On October 1, 2026, a preview event will also take place, where you can see all the cars in the event hall in Safenwil. Advance registration is required for this event.
