The St. Moritz Automobile Week is a success story. What began over nine years ago with Bernina Gran Turismo has now developed into an entire week dedicated to car culture. The competition for historic vehicles was followed by further races, rallies and automobile garden parties, which have made St. Moritz a hub in the world of classic cars. No wonder the event group also received international awards, e.g. the coveted OCTANE Awards as "Motoring Event of the Year" two years in a row: 2022 for the Kilomètre Lancé and 2023 for the entire St. Moritz Automobile Week.
Despite Covid, not a single event had to be canceled. Florian Seidl from the organization team can therefore look back with pride:
"Our journey so far has been characterized by amazing successes. Never before has an organizer developed and implemented five new concepts within three years. Now we have to make the most of this experience and we are grateful for the trust of our participants and the support of our partners, sponsors and all contributors from Graubünden/Switzerland. Now is the right time to reflect and realign ourselves for the future. Our aim is to further improve our already high standards and offer our customers even more exceptional experiences - and above all to bring in a breath of fresh air. We are currently working hard to develop new strategies and concepts to keep St. Moritz Automobilwoche at the forefront of automotive events by optimizing our services and offerings. Our commitment to authentic luxury and the joy of mobility is unwavering and we firmly believe that constant change is the only way to keep the scene fresh. There really is a lot of stagnation and perhaps many outdated concepts. We want to be attractive to the next generation of collectors and the generation after that."
Consolidation in the year 2024
As a first result of the realignment, the 2024 series of events will be condensed to five days (September 25 to 29, 2024), with the Bernina Gran Turismo hill climb taking place in a different format than before. Long-time fans can look forward to the "Kilomètre Lancé" acceleration race at Engadin Airport in Samedan and the Superstick Shift Rally, while the automotive garden party will take place under the new name "St. Motors" and will feature some exciting new features.
In the coming weeks and months, the event website will provide updates on progress. As always, the car culture scene in Switzerland, Europe and around the world will be invited to experience an authentic festival and a unique motorsport experience in and around St. Moritz.
The Int. St. Moritz Automobilwochen AG is already looking forward to creating another unforgettable experience for the 10th anniversary of the Bernina Race in 2025.
The St. Moritz Automobile Weeks are a series of different automotive events that share the same DNA but each retain their own character and soul.
Located in the Engadine in southern Switzerland, we are the only European car festival that offers classic car racing, concours d'elegance, modern and classic touring events with a touch of "rugged luxury".
The St. Moritz Automobile Week includes a series of speed races, gala dinners, tours, competitions, hill climbs, rallies and parties in the ideal conditions that a place like this can offer with its surroundings... and of course with the best atmosphere.
