The new legislation banning old cars from entering the city center of Paris caused quite a stir. After all, Paris hosts one of the most important classic car fairs in the world and the "Traversée de Paris" event with over 700 old vehicles is also part of the city on the Seine.
An agreement now seems to have been reached between the FFVE (Fédération Française des Véhicules d'Epoque), the local representation of the FIVA and the authorities, which has obtained an exemption for classic cars.
Previously, from July 1, 2016, all vehicles built before 1997 would no longer have been allowed to drive on the streets of Paris between 08:00 and 20:00.
The carte grise de collection sticker is a prerequisite for the exemption. According to the FFVE, final confirmation of the compromise is still pending, but is expected in the next few days.
Unfortunately, there is still no satisfactory solution for youngtimers; negotiations are still ongoing here
The FFVE website will provide ongoing information.
