The Touring Car Classics is one of the most popular historic racing series of all. With its vehicles, it recreates the best years of the DTM. In 2021, races will be held on eight race weekends at prestigious events.
The season opener will take place as part of the Bosch Hockenheim Historic from May 7 to 9, 2021. Ten days later, the Nürburgring Classic is on the program from 21.5.-23.5.21.
The third and fifth rounds will take place abroad. Between 11.6.-13.6.21 as part of the Motorsport Festival Salzburgring (A) and - as the summer highlight of the season - from 16.7.-18.7.21 at the Historic Grand-Prix in Zandvoort (NL).
Rounds six and seven will take place in Germany again, from 13.8-15.8.21 as usual at the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix and - as another highlight of the season - as part of the ADAC GT Masters from 10.9.-12.09.21 at the Lausitzring. A strong joint partner is to be celebrated there: Dekra turns 75 in 2021!
The organizers are planning two more highlights for race four and the season finale from 01.10.-03.10.21.
"With eight race events, we are presenting a strong and - based on the experience of the last season - reliable race calendar in 2021. One top event follows the next, from the Salzkammergut to the Dutch coast," says Michael Thier, who also organizes the FHR. "The demand from the teams remains pleasingly high, and the steady growth and further development of the racing series is winning over more and more of the scene. As the format with vehicles from the golden era has proven itself, it will continue to take place as the main race over 40 minutes on Sunday afternoon. The spectacular GT cars such as the Ford Zakspeed Capri, well-known ITC and young DTM cars, as well as cars with historical relevance, will take to the track in a 30-minute sprint on Saturday afternoon. This is also the first time that the classic cars of the Endurance Cup at the Nürburgring will compete in a new class: VLN Classics.
Whether young or old, this event package offers everyone the opportunity to compete with some of the professional drivers of the old DTM, names such as Otto Rensing, Kris Nissen, Frank Schmickler and Harald Grohs are just a few examples of the constant and large line-up of former DTM all-stars," added the well-known organizer.
The Touring Car Classics aims to bring back the spirit of days gone by
It all started with the ingenious idea of bringing the cars of the old German Touring Car and Super Touring Car Championship back to the tracks. And not just as demo drives, but with real action on the race tracks that established their legendary reputation back in the 80s and 90s.
But not only that: but definitely together with the very pilots who were already fighting wheel-to-wheel and "driving each other's mirrors off" back then. The unique basis not only ensures incomparable motorsport and competition between young and old, amateurs and former DTM champions, but also inspired a steadily growing and loyal fan base right from the start.
In the 2021 season, all races will again be broadcast as live streams on Facebook, YouTube and the TWC website (www.tourenwagen-classics.com).
