The Swiss Classic World Rally is a new Swiss rally for classic vehicles. It takes place as part of the popular classic car fair Swiss Classic World in Lucerne. In 2024, the rally is planned as a "prologue", i.e. a one-day round trip with various special stages and a supporting program. In 2025, the rally is to be expanded into a fully-fledged two-day event.
With road book and regularity tests
The Swiss Classic World Rally is aimed at drivers of classic vehicles and navigators who enjoy driving an attractive route according to the road book and completing various intermediate tests along the way. Some of these tests are "regularities", i.e. covering a shorter or longer distance in a precisely prescribed period of time. The time is measured using light barriers. However, it can also involve tricky navigation tasks or precise maneuvering of the vehicle. There are also secret or announced drive-through checks along the way. The better a team performs, the fewer penalty points it receives.
Prizes to be won include a Prestel rally meter, with additional non-cash prizes for the best pre-war vehicle and the most accurate women's team. And of course there are trophies for 1st to 3rd place overall.
Sporty, but also relaxing
The rally is a sporting event, with the focus on precise driving and navigation. However, it is designed in such a way that beginners can also take part. The route table allows for safe, relaxed driving on public roads.
Socializing and gastronomy will not be neglected either.
For classic cars only
Vehicles must be at least 30 years old (i.e. for 2024 up to and including 1994). Vehicles with contemporary modifications may also take part.
Teams with pre-war vehicles receive a coefficient of 0.9 (i.e. the number of penalty points is multiplied by 0.9).
One-day rally with preliminary program
The rally itself will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024. An optional preliminary program is planned for the day before, 31 May 2024.
Further information can be found on the event website, where you can also register. Interested parties should secure their starting place as early as possible; the registration deadline is March 31, 2024.
