The largest museum dedicated to mobile travel is now showing the special exhibition "75 Years of the Bulli". Together with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, the museum is presenting a journey through the history of the legendary VW van, which became a symbol of freedom, a thirst for adventure and independent travel.
At the center of the exhibition are seven extraordinary VW Bulli campers - from the early T1 self-conversion, which clearly shows the traces of its countless journeys, to the million-seller T3, to the all-electric future of travel with the ID.BUZZ. In addition to series models, the Volkswagen Hookipa study based on the fourth Transporter generation will also be on show. With two surfboards on the roof and an interior for short trips to the beach, the "surfer bus" is designed to appeal to a sporty young target group.
Heinz Reeps and Astrid Magdowski's VW T2 has traveled a long way. On the American continent, the two covered over 96,000 kilometers in their self-built Bulli!
"The VW Bulli has not only written automotive history - it has shaped a way of life. With the Bulli, generations of people had the opportunity to become travelers and discover new things," says Sascha Fillies, Director of the Erwin Hymer Museum.
The special exhibition is embedded in the existing permanent exhibition and provides insights into the significance of the Bulli for generations of travelers and its transformation from a commercial vehicle to an icon of vanlife.
The special exhibition "75 Years of the Bulli" is expected to be on display until the end of November and is supported by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Hanover and the Volkswagen AutoMuseum Foundation. The special exhibition is included in the regular admission price for the Erwin Hymer Museum.
