The current exhibition at the MAC Museum Art & Cars in Singen am Hohentwiel in the four-country region of Lake Constance is dedicated to the refreshing theme of "Dolce Vita - the wonderful lightness of being".
From January 29 to 30. October 2022, the MAC 1 will be the venue for an extraordinary exhibition that depicts the "sweet life" in paintings by famous artists such as Otto Dix, Ingeborg Osswald-Lüttin, Waldemar Maier, Günter Scholz, Rudolf Stuckert, Herbert Vogt and other artists with exclusive design icons on wheels by Italian collector Corrado Lopresto.
The symbiosis of unique cars and art brings the stylishly beguiling lifestyle of the "dolce vita" to life in the MAC 1. Of course, the Italian flair also includes a ride on a Vespa. Some particularly beautiful examples are surrounded by bright summery landscapes and portraits of beautiful women - art that symbolizes elegant sensuality as well as the cheerful lightness of the Italian art of living.
Italian rarities from the Lopresto Collection
When the name Corrado Lopresto is mentioned in the circles of classic car collectors, everyone knows how much the Italian has done to preserve prototypes and concept cars from Italian brands. From an early age, Lopresto did everything in his power to find lost design icons and restore them to their former beauty. Thanks to this passion, the world's most incredible car collection of Italian driving culture was created, whose elegant, sporty vehicles regularly bring trophies from major beauty contests back to their native Milan.
Each of the vehicles on display at the MAC tells a very special story and stands as a contemporary witness to Italian design, technical innovation, style and the desire for beautiful things. Cars from Lopresto cover the entire history of the Italian car industry from 1901 to the present day. In addition to the most popular brands, many forgotten names are also represented, such as Ansaldo, Diatto, Bianchi, Stanguellini, Isotta Fraschini and Cisitalia.
Among the exhibits are:
- Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport Cabriolet "Extralusso" from 1947 (Michelotti design)
- Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport "Freccia d'Oro" from 1950 (ex Carrera Panamericana)
- Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 GT Cabriolet from 1951
- Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Bertone Prototipo from 1955
- Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce "Molteni" Speciale from 1956
- Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale Prototipo from 1957
- Cisitalia D48 from 1948
- Lancia Aurelia 2000 Coupé from 1952 (Vignale, built by Michelotti)
Selected paintings from the collection of the Südwestdeutsche Kunststiftung
Selected works by painters such as Walter Becker, Otto Dix, Walter Herzger, Ingeborg Osswald-Lüttin, Rudolf Stuckert and Herbert Vogt reflect the southern attitude to life by the lake, outdoors, in the enchanting landscape, sociable, dreamy and in love with curves, shapes and colors.
A very special example is Herbert Vogt's "Women by the Sea", which can also be seen on the exhibition poster. "The Bathers" on the shores of Lake Constance near Meersburg show the relaxed atmosphere on the nearby lake. Intimate moments are created in the dark room of MAC 1 with nude paintings. Summery natural landscapes, through which one would like to cruise with the unique vintage cars from Corrado Lopresto's collection, create a vacation feeling and bring 'La Dolce Vita' to life.
"The painting should be a feast for the eyes," was the credo of Singen painter Curth Georg Becker, who takes the viewer into the colorful world of expressionism.
What would the "Dolce Vita" be without women? Selected female portraits from the South West German Art Foundation are on display on the first floor of MAC 1 and tempt you to dream. They are joined by Italian two-wheeler icons from the Vespa Club Singen.
In the viewer's mind's eye, happy couples snuggle up close to each other and speed happily through the coming spring on their Vespa.
