A 1939 Lancia Astura Cabriolet Pinin Farina has been voted "Best of Show" at the first Concours of Elegance Germany. At Gut Kaltenbrunn on Lake Tegernsee, it prevailed against a field of 80 vehicles comprising classics, racing cars and modern hypercars. With its elegant dark green bodywork and narrow-angle V8 engine, the Lancia is an outstanding example of coachbuilding and engineering.
Owner Hans Jörg Hubner: "We took part in both the tour and the concours, and it was an extraordinary experience on our first visit to the Bavarian Alps. Lake Tegernsee provided a breathtaking backdrop and landscape. I wish there were events like this all over Europe."
Jury president Richard Charlesworth also presented the "Chairman's Award" to a 1958 Bugatti 57 C with Gangloff bodywork. To celebrate one of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLs, the "70th Anniversary Award" was presented to the best example.
The RM Sotheby's auction offered further highlights with an impressive selection of carefully curated automobiles and automobilia.
