The Classic Motor Weekend is a tribute to the famous airfield races in Europe. Motorsport at the highest level was presented here right back to the 1930s. The previous venue, the old airfield in Kassel-Calden, will unfortunately no longer be available in the future. However, a replacement has already been found: the Obermehler-Schlotheim airfield in Thuringia.
The event takes visitors on an exciting journey through the decades of mobility. Both automobiles and motorcycles will be on display, which is very rare today. So far, four very large events with 350 participants and up to 10,000 enthusiastic visitors have been successfully held.
Bringing the past to life
The Classic Motor Weekend is a hands-on cultural and historical event.
The aim is to bring the history of the automobile and motorcycles back to life. This includes an open historic paddock, vehicle presentations on the 3 km long circuit and the spirit of the past. There are no more races today.
The participants are proud of their metal and show this in demonstration runs. This is where the old drivers meet each other, just as the interested public can have a casual chat at any time and watch them wrenching away. The interested spectator has the opportunity to experience the pre-start, start and the runs live.
The Classic Motor Weekend is also a meeting of brand clubs and the destination for classic car star tours from Hesse, Lower Saxony and Thuringia. Various museums present interesting exhibits and promote their institutions.
The Classic Motor Weekend is a place to linger. High-quality gastronomy. Beer garden. Picnic facilities along the route and live music. There are plenty of parking spaces on the site, especially for classic cars.
Along the pre-start area, the event partners present themselves in a pleasant and informal atmosphere. This is the ideal place for communication and exchange with interested parties and new customers.
The Classic Motor Weekend will take place at the Obermehler-Schlotheim airfield from August 20 to 22, 2021. The program extends over three days and offers spectacular impressions in a federal state with a heart and a great history in the field of automobile and motorcycle construction.
