After all the cancellations, there is also positive news. The Classic Gala Schwetzingen will take place from September 4 to 6, 2020, as usual in the Schlosspark Schwetzingen near Heidelberg with Concours d'Elégance (for the 16th time) and US Classic Car Concours (for the 8th time). And in full compliance with the Covid-19 distancing rules.
A unique journey through automotive history
After a long time without classic car events, the unique, circular baroque garden of Schwetzingen Palace will once again be the arena for an automotive journey through time on the first weekend in September, with 160 selected classic vehicles from a wide range of eras on display in order of their years of construction. Whether steam or electric cars, motorized carriages, small cars of the economic miracle or even state cars and clever individual developments - Classic-Gala Schwetzingen 2020 shows how the automobile has developed over the last 120 years and how important design is for its success for the family-friendly admission price of just 7 euros.
At the same time, the circular baroque park celebrates 100 years of the French luxury brand Talbot, selected examples represent 90 years of Pininfarina design from Italy, the Mercedes-Benz IG shows milestones with a star from the years 1945 to 1995 and almost all variants of the international representation car Mercedes 600 can be seen in the palace park.
True to style
In the park, selected companies will also be presenting automobilia, stylish clothing, literature, model cars and accessories. There will also be live jazz with the "Strangers", live piano jazz, and the castle gastronomy will spoil visitors on the terrace and in the beer garden. In the Südflügel, renowned artists exhibit their automobile-related works and in the 8th US-Car-Concours USCCC there is a matching fashion show from the 50s to 70s every afternoon in the middle of the street cruisers.
Strolling, enjoying and experiencing automotive history in peace and quiet at long intervals - the ASC-Classic Gala Schwetzingen offers an inimitable way to do this: around 20,000 enthusiastic visitors attended in 2019.
