On the third weekend in October, Messezentrum Salzburg once again acted as a portal to time with the Classic Expo. Countless classic cars provided nostalgic flair in the exhibition halls and invited visitors on a journey into the past from October 15 to 17, 2021.
High number of visitors
Around 20,000 visitors responded to the trade fair's call to celebrate the rustiest hobby in the world together and exchange ideas with like-minded people. Visitor numbers reminiscent of pre-corona times thanks to 3G regulations. "This year was our second Classic Expo under special circumstances. So we already had experience in terms of organizational handling and the comprehensive safety concept.
Thanks to the great discipline of our visitors with regard to the 3G check and the cooperation of all colleagues involved, we can look back on an extremely successful trade fair weekend," says Managing Director DI (FH) Alexander Kribus, MBA.
Single and multi-track special shows
In addition to the many dealer and private vehicles, visitors were also inspired by two special shows.
At 75 Years of Vespa, the two-wheeled Italian cult vehicle took center stage, while 60 Years of Jaguar E-Type paid homage to the fast design icon from the sixties. The special shows were realized in cooperation with the Vespa Club Austria and the Jaguar Club Austria. "Cooperation with the various clubs and associations is very important to us. They are an important part of the industry and the ones who keep the scene alive," says Classic Expo founder Hermann Schwarz.
Dorotheum auction draws the crowds
On Saturday afternoon, the Dorotheum auction house auctioned off 76 vehicles in front of a live audience at the trade fair.
Once again, the Dorotheum can report a complete success with a sales rate of 95% and a record duration of two and a half hours beyond the regular opening hours of the fair.(Results analysis on Zwischengas).
Satisfied exhibitors
If you ask around the exhibitors, you will notice above all the great joy about the feasibility of exhibiting at Classic Expo, which this year is one of the few classic car fairs to be held anywhere in Europe. Exhibitors and visitors alike are likely to be delighted; the success rate speaks for itself. Jan Altena, owner of Altena Classic Service: "Due to known circumstances, we arrived without great expectations. Then we had a successful start to the fair on Friday with the sale of two vehicles. We sold a total of 4 classic cars and are very satisfied."
Robert Schatteiner, owner of Car Loft Fahrzeughandel GmbH, also has good things to say: "We are extremely happy that the Classic Expo can take place without any major restrictions and are delighted with a successful trade fair weekend. You can see how important personal contact and facial expressions are in discussions with customers." Thomas Franz, owner of Autosalon Isartal, who is taking part for the twelfth time this year, even reports a personal record year at Classic Expo this year. There is also unanimous agreement about the perfect organization, friendliness and flexibility in Salzburg. The tenor is also unanimous with regard to the many interesting customer and business contacts made.
A trunk full of fond memories serves as the perfect spark for next year's planning. The Classic Expo will therefore enter the next round from October 14 to 16, 2022.
