What does Winston Churchill actually have to do with the automobile? Not too much, but of course he drove many different cars, including a Morris Oxford Saloon, but also the Land Rover, which is now in the Emil Frey Classics Museum.
And so it makes sense that Philipp Gut is holding his reading of the book "Champagne with Churchill" in Safenwil at the Emil Frey Classic Center.
British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was not only a great politician, but also - a fact that many people are unaware of - a passionate and talented painter. He relied on his "Swiss connections": both his painting teacher and his paint manufacturer Willy Sax were Swiss. In his book "Champagne with Churchill", Philipp Gut tells the story of this extraordinary friendship and shows us a whole new side to Churchill, the statesman of the century: as an artist and as a private man.
The author: Dr. Philipp Gut is a historian, journalist, publisher and author. With his agency Gut Communications, he advises companies, political parties, associations and private individuals. He lives in Lenzburg AG.
