Since September 23, 2022, an online auction has been running on Catawiki that revolves around cars that are ideal for those last autumn drives, but that you would also like to keep in your garage over the winter. The offer is broad and includes 17 cars from five countries - Germany, Italy, Great Britain, the USA and Japan.
Z for the racetrack
The Datsun 240 Z from 1972 is not for fans of originality, but certainly something for fans of fast locomotion. The car was converted into a racing car between 2008 and 2012 and now has a displacement of 2.8 liters instead of 2.4 and a five-speed gearbox instead of an automatic. The three Weber twin carburetors should not only provide plenty of power, but also a good sound.
Estimated price EUR 95'000 to 105'000.
Jaguar XK 150 S in red
In 1959, this red XK 150 S with 3.4-liter inline six-cylinder engine and chassis number S831181DN left the factory in England as an OTS and was then delivered to the USA. The car was also restored there before returning to Europe in 2010.
Today, the car is waiting in the Netherlands for a new buyer who is willing to part with around EUR 145,000 to 160,000.
The XK 150 is one of six British cars in the auction. Also on offer are a stunning Triumph TR2 from 1954 with the long side doors, an Austin-Healey 100 BN1 from 1954, a Triumph Stag from 1976, a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow from 1972, a Jaguar Mk2 3.8 from 1961 and a Bentley Mk VI Saloon from 1951.
Almost still a youngtimer - Porsche 944 S2
The Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet is now, of course, a classic car. It was built in 1990 and then exported to the USA. With its silver paintwork and black interior, it has a classic color scheme. According to Carfax, 150,117 km is not an exaggerated mileage for this accident-free car.
The car is currently in Italy. The estimate is EUR 31'500 to 35'000.
Friends of relatively young convertibles might also consider the white Mercedes-Benz 300 SL from 1986 with a light brown interior. It is priced at EUR 44,000 to 48,500, is also located in Italy and is an automatic version.
If the Porsche 944 is too young for you, you might like a Porsche 911 2.4 T from 1972. However, the oil flap model is expected to go for around EUR 82,500 to 91,000.
Two beautiful Italians
The two super classics Lancia Flaminia as a GT 2.8 Touring Cabriolet from 1959 and Maserati Merak from 1974 come from the south. What they have in common is a ravishing design and a six-cylinder engine under the hood. But then their paths diverged. While the Lancia is a classic fifties convertible, the Merak is a seventies mid-engined sports car.
The two Italians are then closer together again in the estimated values. The Lancia is listed at EUR 73,500 to 81,500, the Maserati is said to cost ERU 61,000 to 67,500.
Power sports cars for American fans
Four American cars are on offer at Catawiki until October 9, 2022. The most eye-catching of these is certainly the poison green Dodge Dhallenger from 1973, but the 1963 Corvette C2 convertible and the red and black Ford Mustang Mach 1 from 1971 also look attractive. The 1976 Corvette C3 is likely to be a little cheaper.
Further information and many pictures of the individual cars can be found on the Catawiki website, where you can of course also bid for the vehicles online.
