The illustrated book "Lost Wheels - Atlas of Forgotten Cars" is now available in stores. This illustrated book shows an adventurous photo journey across Europe to the remotest areas of the USA, because no route is too far or too daring to get to the "lost cars" in forgotten places.
True individuals with morbid charm
When people leave, nature reclaims its space. Forgotten and overgrown by nature's greenery, these cars seem like a snapshot of days gone by. What they all have in common is that they are true individuals, of unique beauty, with a morbid charm.
The nostalgic subjects of photo artist Dieter Klein are legends and outsiders: Porsche and Cadillac, VW Beetle and Citroën DS. In inconspicuous backyards, old barns and dense forests, they show the charm of decay and the power of nature in the most beautiful way and inspire us to imagine fantastic stories about the history of automobiles.
The visual language of abandoned cars as a passion
Dieter Klein is a freelance photographer. In 2003, he received the "Best Reportage" award from Bild der Wissenschaft for his reportage on robots. His true passion, however, is the imagery of abandoned cars. This won him the "Best Photography" award at the Discovery Days 2017 (Switzerland) and the El Mundo Festival 2018 (Austria).
Dieter Klein regularly gives lectures and shows slideshows on the "Lost Wheels" and "Forest Punk". Dieter Klein lives and works near Cologne.
A must-have for all lovers of lost-place photography
