Since 1994, around 200 classic cars from British marques have been meeting in St. Moritz every summer for drives, gliding tests and Concours d'Elégance. The British Classic Car Meeting St. Moritz has become a highlight for many friends of classic cars from Great Britain. In 2017, the event is already entering its 24th round, with the Swiss resort of St. Moritz once again serving as a spectacular backdrop from July 7 to 9.
Registration now open
Registration for the 24th British Classic Car Meeting St. Moritz is now open. Interested participants can register online to take part in the classic car event until February 28, 2017. Classic cars from Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin & Lagonda, Jaguar & Daimler, Austin-Healey & Healey are eligible. In the "Open Class", a limited number of classic cars of other British brands built up to 1967 are also eligible to participate.
"Spluga Rally" on Saturday
As in previous years, the traditional rally will be held on Saturday at the BCCM 2017. Next year, it will lead from St. Moritz over the Maloja Pass to the Italian-Mediterranean Chiavenna and over the Splügen and Albula passes back to the Engadin. The lowest point of the rally is Chiavenna at 333 m above sea level. At 2,312 meters, the Albula Pass marks the highest point of the rally. As the Splügen Pass with its tight hairpin bends, narrow sections of road and old, unlit tunnels is a challenge for pre-war vehicles, the newly built bypass between Corti and Isola is used in this area. This bypasses the critical points and allows all participants to drive smoothly.
Rally can now also be driven without classification
In addition to the regular "Sports Classic" category with time classification and ranking, participation in the rally is now possible in the "Mountain Classic" category without rally classification and without ranking - however, the rally start and finish must be completed within the specified time window. The new category has been created for all those rally participants for whom the focus is on pure driving enjoyment and not competition.
Concours d' Elégance on Sunday
The real highlight of the meeting on Sunday, July 9, will be the Concours d' Elégance in the village center of St. Moritz, which is very popular with the public. All the vehicles taking part in the BCCM will be on display on the Via Serlas from 10.30 am to around 2 pm. Several thousand spectators will not want to miss this elegant beauty contest and awards ceremony along the Badrutt's Palace Hotel. Food stalls provide culinary delights for visitors, who can win attractive prizes in the public competition.
