Almost a year ago, Kai Desinger organized the "24 Tours du Pont" event in Berlin-Potsdam for the first time. In reference to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the beautiful historic petrol station not far from the Glienicke Bridge, which connects Potsdam with Berlin Wannsee.
From August 29 to 30, 2015, it will take place for the second time, because Desinger could not refuse the request of the many fans who wanted another event. What has proven itself will be continued. There will also be some new features, such as a mooring area for historic ships.
Beauty ...
Saturday is dedicated to beauty. See and be seen. Elegant classics face an expert jury in the Concours du Pont along three classes: "The Art of Coachwork Design", "Grace & Pace of Grand Touring" and "Legendary Sportscars".
In addition, many other classic cars will be on display on the meadows along the Schwanenallee as part of the "Parc de l'Automobile Historique".
Incidentally, it is no coincidence that many things in Potsdam are labeled in French. Frederick II the Great was a child of the Enlightenment and appreciated French ideas. From 1745, for example, Sanssouci Palace and later the New Palace were built as his summer residence, and it goes without saying that the historic buildings and streets provide a wonderful setting for a classic car event.
... and sporty elegance
Things get sportier on Sunday, when 36 cars from the years up to 1941, 1945 to 1960 and 1961 to 1975 set off to complete the 24 laps along a triangular course in Potsdam with an obligatory driver change.
Museums have already agreed to present some of their valuable sports and racing cars and we can already look forward to the range of vehicles on display.
Walter Röhrl certainly wants to be there again in 2015, if his schedule permits.
Registrations are still possible until August 1, 2015 and can be made directly on the event website, where a lot more information about the event is also available.
