There are still four weeks to go until the Fribourg 2014 classic car and parts market, which will open its doors from March 22 to 23, but some of the attractions that make a visit to western Switzerland worthwhile are already known.
Jo Siffert's Lotus 22
Jo Siffert contested his first Formula 1 race in 1962 at the Belgian Grand Prix in Brussels. Back then, he drove a Lotus 22 and it is precisely this car that will be on display in Fribourg.
Dufaux with Clay Regazzoni and Toulo de Graffenried
In 1977, the 1905 Dufaux, which the Swiss Car Register is bringing to Fribourg together with the Lucerne Museum of Transport, took part in the Grand Prix Historique in Montreux with Clay Regazzoni and Toulo de Graffenried on board.
50 years of the Porsche 911
The 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 was actually celebrated in 2013, as the Zuffenhausen icon was first shown in Frankfurt in 1963.
In Fribourg, however, the now 50-year Swiss history of the Porsche 911 will be celebrated, which had its Swiss premiere at the 1964 Geneva Motor Show (still as the 901). Among other things, a Porsche 911 SC RS Group B and a Porsche 962 C with a Le Mans background will be on display in Fribourg.
In addition, many Porsche model cars will commemorate the brand from Stuttgart.
20,000 visitors are expected and around 400 exhibitors will be offering everything that classic and modern car fans need, from vehicles and spare parts to workshop literature.
An extensive club show will provide a stage for many brand clubs to present their activities and passions. The Registre Suisse Alfa Romeo, for example, is dedicating itself to the Giulietta, which is celebrating its 60th birthday.
The OTM Fribourg 2014 will be open on March 22 from 09:00 to 18:00 and on March 23 from 09:00 to 17:00. Further information can be found on the event website.
