On September 28, 2025, Artcurial Motorcars will auction around fifty vehicles from the Château de Vernon automobile museum directly on site at the estate, which is located 20 km southeast of Poitiers (France).
Founded by Jean-Pierre Nylin, the museum is housed in the restored outbuildings of the 15th century Château de Vernon. The entire collection will be offered without a reserve price. A selection of other privately owned vehicles will also be included in the auction.
Broad and rich collection
Jean-Pierre Nylin's collecting career began with the purchase of an MG at auction, followed shortly afterwards by a Bentley Type R. A true enthusiast - especially of sports cars from the 1950s and 1960s - he became a loyal follower of the auctions run by Hervé Poulain. Over the years, he built up a collection in which each car reflects a particular era and craftsmanship.
The collection included cars from Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Maserati, Facel Vega and Alpine, and Nylins did not limit himself to one particular type of bodywork.
Among the highlights are a Delahaye Type 87 from 1921 (EUR 6000 to 10,000), a Facel Vega HK 500 from 1958 (EUR 80,000 to 120,000), a Maserati 3500 GT Sebring from 1963 (EUR 70,000 to 90'000), a Porsche 356 B Cabriolet from 1963 (EUR 80,000 to 120,000), an Aston Martin DBS from 1971 (EUR 40,000 to 60,000) or a comparatively young Chrysler Viper GTS from 1997 (EUR 40,000 to 60,000).
More cars from private collections
The 50 or so cars from the Château de Vernon automobile museum are complemented by vehicles from other collections, including a Bentley 3 Litre Tourer from 1923 (EUR 120,000 to 160,000) and a Lancia Lambda from 1926 (EUR 70,000 to 100,000).
