With the declining importance of traditional new car shows, car manufacturers have rediscovered classic car shows as a way of simultaneously highlighting their past and present (or even future).
Alpine celebrates the A110 series with an iconic trio
Alpine's appearance at the Retromobile classic car trade fair (January 28 to February 1, 2026) in Paris will be dominated by the Alpine A110. The French sports car brand, which is currently celebrating its 70th anniversary, is presenting a trio from the series that represents the rebirth of the brand in the 21st century.
On display are two historically significant versions of the A110 - a classic Alpine A110 from 1977 and a rally version of the Berlinette, which competed in the 1975 World Rally Championship - as well as the Alpine A110R Ultime, the most exclusive and extreme A110 ever built.
Alpine is thus celebrating its iconic sports car, the second generation of which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017 and will remain in production until June 2026. Until the end of March, customers can order the last examples of the current versions: the Alpine A110, the Alpine A110 GTS, which feels equally at home on the road and the racetrack, and the Alpine A110 R 70, a limited edition to mark the brand's 70th anniversary.
Opel with three classics
Opel (Stellantis) is officially present at the Rétromobile for the first time.
In addition to two new cars (Mokka GSE and Astra), three legendary Opel classics will be on display, namely an Opel Kadett C, an Opel Manta 400 and an Opel Monza GSE.
Volkswagen celebrates 50 years of the Golf GTI
Volkswagen will also be there, with the 50th anniversary of the VW Golf GTI, which was launched in 1976, at the center of the presentation.
Of course, there will be at least one Golf Mk1 GTI on the stand, but in keeping with the style of the competition, there will also be the latest version.
Further information on Rétromobile Paris, which opens its doors from January 28 to February 1, 2026, can be found on the trade fair website.
