The weather forecast for Sunday, August 18, 2024, gave little hope: Rain, rain, rain was forecast days in advance. However, the organizing committee of the 5th Oldtimer-Treff Surselva neither gave up hope nor thought of giving up. When the forecast did not improve on Friday, 16 August, and the rain was definitely expected on Sunday, the organizers were forced to change almost all their plans and hold the event in a completely different setting.
Under cover
Fortunately, it was possible to hold the entire event indoors, as the middle and lower parking decks of the venue are covered.
After a few hours of overtime, the organizing committee and the Catrina Resort staff were still able to hold a successful event without having to cancel it.
They came after all
Over 100 cars were presented to a curious public and the two guest clubs, Alpine-Club Regional and MG-Club Stamm Ticino, were prominently represented in the covered garage. The restaurants were full at lunchtime and many people were already enjoying their coffee and summits in the morning.
Of course, the meeting could have been canceled, but the organizers were not so easily put off. Despite the adverse circumstances, the event was a success and the spectators on site had a lot of fun watching and talking petrol.
The organizers would like to thank all guests, with and without classic cars, for coming despite the uninviting weather.
