From November 28 to December 6, 2015, the Classic & Prestige Salon at the Essen Motor Show will present more than 250 exquisite classic cars for sale. Internationally renowned dealers will be offering high-quality collector's cars, prestige automobiles and young classics. There will also be a fascinating special show on the subject of "Jubilee Preview 100 Years of BMW - History + Motorsport 1916 - 2016"
Comprehensive range with a sporty touch
At this year's 48th Essen Motor Show, the Classic & Prestige Salon - as one of the most important German classic car trade fairs - will once again be the highlight of the season finale. More than 250 exquisite classic cars will be for sale from over 25 of the most renowned international classic car dealers in Hall 1 of Messe Essen, with the comprehensive range on offer at this trade fair extending from a Ferrari costing several million euros to a well-preserved VW Golf GTI from the 1970s to 1990s. The majority of the offerings and showpieces are classics with a decidedly sporty touch.
100 years of BMW
At the heart of Hall 1, which is reserved for the Classic & Prestige Salon, is the exciting Classic Preview special show by S.I.H.A., which has been the organizer of the major classic car sales fair within the Essen Motor Show for 34 years.
These "preview" special shows have now developed a tradition of their own in the longstanding success story of the show: For the fourth time, the S.I.H.A. is presenting preview exhibitions designed with rare and spectacular automobiles under the heading "Jubilee Preview" to mark interesting anniversaries of the respective following year. And every year, the attraction is enhanced with ever-changing, special icing on the cake. This year's title is: "Jubilee Preview 100 Years of BMW - History + Motorsport".
A sparkling presentation with exquisite sports and racing exhibits from BMW's 100-year history is planned for next year - March 7, 1916 is considered the founding date of BMW in the official company history. In the preview, the S.I.H.A. presents the most spectacular and important automotive milestones and some motorcycles and sidecars from the racing history of the white and blue brand. The plan is to show ten special racing gems. These include the legendary BMW 328 from the late 1930s, a BMW 700 in racing version from the 1960s, a BMW 3.5 CSL Group 2 racing touring car from the 1970s, a BMW M1 Procar from 1979/1980, a BMW 635 CSi Group A racing coupé from the early 1980s and a Formula 1 car with a BMW engine.
The S.I.H.A. also has another trump card up its sleeve, about which only this much is revealed: although this car does not come directly from racing, it can be seen as a straightforward continuation of BMW's racing history into the future. The Jubilee Preview is therefore traditionally more than just a preview of a future anniversary. With it, the S.I.H.A. also points to the next classic car world fair Techno-Classica Essen (April 6 to 10, 2016), whose main theme will be the legendary Mille Miglia of 1955.
Last big classic car show of the season
The Classic & Prestige Salon is also more than just a sales show and more than just the traditional last big classic car show of the season: for the fifth time in a row, the S.I.H.A. has set up its own club centers in Halls 8.1 and 9.1 to give the classic car communities opportunities to present themselves to the public.
One of the good traditions at the Classic & Prestige Salon is always a Concours d'Elégance: To give the classic car dealers an additional incentive to bring only the best of the best from their range to Essen, a jury of internationally renowned classic car experts selects the most beautiful and elegant classic car from the dealer range as the "Best of Show".
In addition, suppliers of classic car spare parts, accessories, classic car literature, classic model cars and car art will present their offerings - a total of around 120 exhibitors will be dedicated to classic cars and collectors' vehicles.
