Shortly after the war, Ford began building the first generation of the F-series. The F-1, F-2, F-3 and F-4 models went on sale in 1948, the first generation was built until 1950 and then replaced by the next generation. This continued until today.
For over 45 years, the Ford F-Series was the best-selling "truck" in the USA, and for 40 years it was the best-selling car of all.
The forty millionth F-Series car has now been produced, an F-150 in "Iconic Silver", which left the factory in Dearborn/Michigan.
Now one could argue about how much the modern F150 still has to do with the first F-1. However, the two are probably closer in concept than the first and current VW Beetle or the various Toyota Corolla generations. However, the F-Series trucks probably don't stand a chance against the consistency of the VW Beetle and Ford Model T, but they only managed to produce half as many of them.
