Since January 25, 2025, the MAC Museum Art & Cars in Singen has been hosting an extraordinary exhibition on Level 1 of MAC2. It focuses on the history of the "Alemannenring" and the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) in Singen. This brings touring car racing history back to life in all its fascination.
Motorsport festival of superlatives
Between 1990 and 1995, the Singen industrial estate was transformed into one of the most spectacular street racing circuits in Germany. With a 2.8-kilometre track embedded in Georg-Fischer-Straße and a sponsorship from Mercedes-Benz, the Alemannenring attracted up to 40,000 spectators each time - a motorsport festival that was second to none. Major works teams such as Audi, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, BMW and Opel provided thrilling races, while private teams and local heroes gave the event a personal touch.
Tight and exciting races in the industrial area
Klaus Ludwig, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Frank Biela, Nicola Larini, Bernd Schneider and other motorsport legends took to the narrow track without run-off areas, where overtaking maneuvers became breathtaking moments.
But as glamorous as the era of the Alemannic Ring was, it had to end in 1995 for cost reasons. "It's like Monaco," enthused ZDF sports reporter Rainer Braun - a sentence that still resonates today.
About the exhibition
At the MAC Museum Art & Cars in Singen, visitors can now immerse themselves in the history of one of the most exciting chapters in German motorsport history. The exhibition is accompanied by works by Bernd Luz. Designer and artist Bernd Luz has a traditional background in advertising and is now internationally renowned for his interpretation of pop art into the 21st century. He has mastered the balancing act of creating abstract works characterized by an inspiring alternating tension. There he moves with his painting into the unreal, the diffuse - knowing that only the willingness to work into the unknown makes artistic utopia and freedom possible.
His racing motifs have a contemporary reference to historical events in automobile racing. A tribute to important vehicles and events that have retained their splendor and fascination to this day and still fascinate people today, including the works relating to the DTM and Alemannenring, which can be seen and purchased at the MAC Museum Art & Cars.
