In September 1995, Lotus presented the new Elise sports car, a car the world had been waiting for. The car was very light and set new standards in terms of handling and fuel efficiency.
Since then, the Lotus Elise (you could also say the Elise) has been the pillar of Lotus. Some things have changed over the 20 years, engine suppliers have come and gone. The design also underwent a modernization with the Mk II, but the popularity of the minimalist sports car did not suffer. Other manufacturers - Opel, Tesla - used the technical basis to present their own sports cars, but these could not compete with the original in terms of popularity and sheer numbers.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Lotus is now launching a special version of the current Elise, called the "20th Anniversary Special Edition", which is based on the Elise S Club Racer and is aerodynamically optimized and 10 kg lighter (now 914 kg). Fuel consumption of 5.9 liters per 100 km and 4.6 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h are specified. There is a choice of four colors - Blue, Green, Yellow or Silver - and the additional price compared to the Elise S is around 5000 euros.
However, this will not stop owners of the early Elise models from loving their car, which has now matured into a youngtimer ....
