In September 2020, the 16th Classic Gala Schwetzingen was one of the few major events that could take place despite coronavirus restrictions. The signs are even better in 2021. The subsiding consequences of the pandemic give hope for an easing of restrictions. Accordingly, the organizing team of the 17th Classic Gala Schwetzingen, which will take place from 3 to 5 September 2021 in the beautiful palace park, has big plans. Four major anniversaries will be celebrated, namely 110 years of Chevrolet, 100 years of Maybach Automobile, 60 years of Jaguar E-Type and 100 years of Carrozzeria Ghia.
Ghia vehicles wanted
Even those who can pronounce the name Ghia (Gi:ha) correctly are often only familiar with the VW Karmann-Ghia, which first came onto the market in 1955. Connoisseurs know that Carrozzeria Ghia is 100 years old this year and was taken over by Ford in 1970.
But Ghia is behind far more vehicles than most people realize: DeTomaso Mangusta and Pantera, Maserati Ghibli, but also Renault Floride or even Innocenti 950 and the many variants of the FIAT 500 and 600 as "Jolly" beach cars came onto the road thanks to the Carrozzeria.
In addition, there are more than 60 extravagant prototypes that have been created for Ghia by renowned designers since 1950 - and many of them still exist!
The international Concours d'Elegance ASC-Classic-Gala Schwetzingen from September 3 to 5, 2021 is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of this creative Italian coachbuilding company and invites owners of rare Ghia automobiles to register to participate in the Concours d'Elegance 2021. A special "Centennario Ghia 2021" trophy has been created especially for this purpose.
Interesting entries have already been received, but it would be nice if a few particularly rare examples could be added to make the Ghia special show even more spectacular.
