Classic-Gala Schwetzingen has been presenting selected international classics since 2001. This August, the Concours d'Elégance will take place for the tenth time. In the ambience of the fabulous baroque palace gardens of Schwetzingen Palace, over a hundred classic automobile gems invite visitors to marvel, admire and appreciate and revive international automotive history.
The oldest electric car, the oldest Ford and the oldest Bugatti come together
This year will once again bring together great cars that have never been seen together before. The Autovision Museum will be showing its Ayrton electric car from 1881 and the first Ford of all time from a private collection, the Quadricycle from 1986, will also be proudly displayed in Schwetzingen. The appearance of the oldest Bugatti at the Concours in Schwetzingen is a real surprise. Bugatti No. 5 from 1903, which was specially built for the car race from Paris to Madrid, will be on public display for the first time at the end of August.
The forefather of all Jaguar sports cars visits the Concours
The "SS90" from the sidecar factory of William Lyons in Coventry was a very fast and fascinating sports car in 1935. As the vehicle was unsaleable internationally under the name "SS", the company's first model was given the new name Jaguar. This year, such a model will come to Schwetzingen from Switzerland and join successor Jaguar models such as the fast saloons Mk. 2, Mk. 4, Mk. X, the S-Type and others.
100 years of Maserati
The renowned artist and master of etching Bernd Lehmann has created a high-quality portfolio "100 years of MASERATI" especially for the Maserati anniversary. He will present this to the world public in Schwetzingen. There is also a short film here, which was made at the Techno-Classica.
Diverse program complements the show
Changing orchestras and artists transform the park into a cultural island. Numerous stands with literature, accessories and fashion invite visitors to browse. Exhibits from industry and trade are also on display and there are plenty of activities to get involved in. Gourmets also get their money's worth in Schwetzingen Palace Park, as there is a wide range of gastronomic offerings to cater for guests' physical well-being. In addition, the breathtaking palace park offers the opportunity to take a leisurely stroll tinged with nostalgia.
Participation for classics in top condition
Classics in top condition that are true to the original are invited to take part. They will be classified and judged by a qualified team of international jurors according to FIVA criteria. And as at every Concours d'Élégance, there will be numerous titles, awards and trophies to be won.
A short animated film produced by the Classic-Gala Schwetzingen provides an insight into the Concours d'Élégance and the hustle and bustle in the park of Schwetzingen Palace.
