Nut and Bolt restored 6-cylinder Michelotti from Triumph
€
History:
In 1952, Triumph presented the TR1, the first vehicle in the TR series, which marked the start of a success story for the British sports car manufacturer. This was immediately followed by the TR2, and from 1955 the 100 hp TR3, which weighed just under 900 kg, was built. The TR4 followed from 1961 to 1965, still with the 4-cylinder engine. The first Triumph designed by an Italian (Giovanni Michelotti). A newly developed 6-cylinder engine was installed in the same vehicle, which was fitted in today's most sought-after Triumph, the TR5 and TR 250. In the very short production time of just 15 months, only 8,484 TR250s with carburetor engine were produced. This model was first registered in the USA in 1968. Stricter regulations applied in the USA than in Europe, which is why only low-maintenance carburetor engines with less power were delivered there. The TR250 was regularly ridden and constantly maintained by its previous Swiss owner. The fully restored example was restored to new condition without compromising on cost.
Bodywork and paintwork:
The paintwork in the original Powder Blue color is as good as new and undamaged. The high standard of restoration is reflected in the deep shine and the even coating of the bodywork.
Interior:
The new original seats, the chic wooden steering wheel with the burl wood dashboard and the fresh carpet landscape emphasize the well-kept and homely overall appearance.
Engine and mechanics:
The engine has excellent performance figures and the carburetors have been freshly overhauled, meaning that the car passes the MFK inspection without any faults. The Goodtimer Service also includes a fresh full inspection with a new veteran's inspection for this British car.
Chassis:
Shock absorbers and brakes were also renewed, which was completed with new chrome-spoked wheels and fresh tires.
Driving experience:
A unique soundscape from the in-line six-cylinder engine accompanies the driver in this 2-seater, which also provides unrestricted driving pleasure. The suspension allows a comfortable driving style, which also makes it suitable for long journeys. A vehicle like this must be experienced once in a lifetime. Anyone who has one will only give it back after many years.
Recommendation:
The TR250 is the most popular and sought-after Triumph among collectors. It is not only its rarity that makes it so sought-after. In the heyday of British sports car construction, the TR250 was the icon of the affordable sports roadster and the pride of up-and-coming society. Examples like this one are very rare, as far more was invested in the restoration than the current insurance value of around 55,000 francs. A collector's vehicle for lovers of immaculate restoration.
