Description
Lancia called the original three-door coupé with plenty of storage space the High Performance Estate, or HPE for short, which was launched in 1975 and complemented the Beta range. The HPE followed a vehicle shape known in English-speaking countries as the Shooting Brake, which was particularly popular with hunters and golfers. However, the practical side is only half the story, as there is hardly anyone who does not find a Shooting Brake extremely successful in terms of design. Be it the eternal classic MG B GT, the Reliant Scimitar or the Volvo 1800 ES. This first series car was once registered in the Bari area. It then ended up in the hands of a Parisian lawyer who owned a Lancia collection. When he sold off parts of the collection, the current Swiss owner took action and imported the HPE without further ado, as the car is in a condition that is hard to beat. As if untouched, the Lancia stands on its new tires and waits for the next drive. Even the mileage is credible and confirmed by the previous owners. The interior, like the rest of the car, can simply be described as fantastically well-preserved. The pictures speak for themselves. The driving behavior confirms the visual impression. The carburetor, engine and gearbox are perfectly matched. Weighing in at just over 1000 kg, the sports station wagon has an excellent throttle response and pulls away cleanly in each of the five gears. No wonder, the Lampredi twin-camshaft engine delivers over 100 hp, all of which is noticeably present. Comfort, space, elegance paired with a pinch of sportiness - that's what makes this rare classic so appealing. In addition, the first series still impresses with chrome on the bodywork and an elegant dashboard with wooden inlay. A great deal was renewed or replaced on this vehicle in 2023. Current receipts of over CHF 28,000 are available and exceed the current sales price! For example, the brakes are new all round, the carburetors have been overhauled, the exhaust system replaced, all fluids, filters and plugs changed, radiators and hoses cleaned and partially renewed, a DAB radio with a classic look installed. A number of glasses and lights were replaced and many small mechanical inconsistencies were rectified. It can therefore be said that there is currently absolutely no need for investment and the price quoted is a tremendous bargain when purchase, import, registration and the aforementioned costs are taken into account. This Lancia Beta HPE 1600 in the beautiful color Bleu Antibes is not to be missed!!!
