Charming English tomcat looking for a new home
€
With its "turbine-like" V8 engine (a quote from the contemporary trade press), this Daimler-Jaguar captivates with its sophistication and British understatement factor.
The 140 SAE horsepower from the gently gurgling V8 does not make it a racing machine like its colleagues, the 3.4 and 3.8 liter Mark 2 Jaguars with inline six-cylinder engines, but rather a stylish touring coach with leather fauteuil.
This right-hand drive Daimler 250 V8 was delivered in England in 1968 and later exported to Germany. From there it found its way to Austria.
Extensive repair documentation proves that the car had already been repaired and restored from head to toe in Germany.
Unfortunately, its Borg-Warner 35 automatic gearbox gave up the ghost after its first owner in Austria, who had it registered as a historic vehicle, installed a stainless steel exhaust system. So I took it over and gave it a thorough technical overhaul.
A Welsh specialist fitted a reassembled gearbox, a new alternator, a new battery, a comprehensive engine service and all the rubbers and suspension bushes were replaced. The latter in polyurethane. Last year, the differential was sealed and the cardan center bearing was replaced.
As a result, the Sir is now technically in perfect health. Cosmetically, the older gentleman has a charming patina and it is up to his new owners to decide whether they accept him as he is or whether they want to give him a high-gloss finish with a manageable amount of effort.
Incidentally, after about 20 kilometers of getting used to it, the right-hand drive proves to be completely unproblematic, even when overtaking and parking. I enjoy it because it provides a change of perspective.
The cat is looking for a new home because there is no suitable place for him at his master's future new place of residence.
Extensive documentation is available. If you are interested, a large collection of original spare parts, which I have bought from all over Europe in recent years, can be given to you. If required, a contemporary Blaupunkt radio can be fitted in place of the inappropriately modern radio. Price negotiations only in a personal conversation on site.
