The customer has had the bodywork of the vehicle completely reworked and repainted, very special dark red, multi-layer "fine Fireflack paint". The vehicle pictured is as delivered from the USA, the latest pictures of the current paintwork will be delivered as soon as possible as the vehicle is not yet with us, but is ready for collection from the customer in Switzerland!
Original text from the seller in the USA (Colorado):
This 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Coupé was delivered new to Alaska Sales and Service in Anchorage, Alaska, and purchased by the seller in 1998. The car is powered by a matching-numbers 327ci L76 V8 mated to a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential. The car is finished in red with black leather interior and features power windows, power-assisted brakes, pop-up headlights and 15" Cragar S/S wheels. This C2 is offered with the wheel covers and seat covers removed, manufacturer's literature, a car cover with cable lock, two sets of keys, NCRS literature, an NCRS shipping record and a clean Colorado title in the seller's name.
The fiberglass body is painted red and features swivel headlights, a chrome driver's side mirror and dual exhausts exiting through the rear fascia. The hood is said to have been repainted in 2019, the windshield wiper motor is said to have been overhauled, and the seller indicates that the wiring harness for the front lights has been replaced. Areas of cracked paint are reported over the front wheel arches.
Polished 15-inch Cragar S/S wheels are fitted with older Michelin Pilot tires sized 215/65. A full size spare tire is included in the sale. Stopping power is provided by pressure-assisted drum brakes, reportedly overhauled by the seller. The removed hubcaps are included in the sale.
The cabin features bucket seats that have been reupholstered in black leather, as well as a matching dash, door panels and carpeting. Seat belts are provided for both occupants, and features include a Delco push-button radio, power windows and a Hurst shifter. The seller notes that the passenger side door panel has been replaced and a replacement driver's side door panel comes with the vehicle, along with the removed black vinyl seat covers, a dash cover and a set of floor mats. The analog clock is out of service.
A three-spoke steering wheel with a laced cover frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a red line at 6,500 rpm and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer does not work and currently reads 49,000 miles. The total distance traveled is unknown.
The 327ci V8 is fed by a single Holley 600 CFM carburetor and sends power to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential with a 3.73:1 ratio, reportedly installed under previous ownership. An electronic ignition system and replacement ignition wiring harness were said to have been installed during current ownership, and work in 2019 apparently included changing the transmission and differential fluids. The removed ignition shield is included in the sale, along with a set of 3.08:1 ratios.
The engine block number 102125 is pictured above and corresponds to the last six digits of the chassis number, as can be seen in the gallery below. The 'RE' code on the right indicates a 365-horsepower 327ci L76 V8 with a crankshaft for manual transmission applications.
