€
Bentley, Freestone & Webb, 4 ¼ Litre, Lightweight Saloon, built in 1948 (Mk VI). Number 3 of a total of only 7 vehicles built (chassis no. B 424 CF, body no. 1437).
After the Second World War, Rolls-Royce and Bentley resumed production of civilian cars at the Crewe plant, which is still in use today. While the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith, like all previous vehicles, was only offered as a chassis with engine, the Bentley Mark VI, which was identical in many respects, was offered for the first time as a complete car with a factory body (Standard Steel Saloon). The Bentley Mark VI was produced from 1946 to 1952.
One of the few exceptions was the very elegant "Lightweight Saloon" in aluminum bodied by Freestone & Webb. Freestone & Webb presented its designs at the Motor Show in London. They won the gold medal in the private coachbuilders' competition nine years in a row. The factory produced up to 15 different saloons per year.
This majestic Bentley, Freestone & Webb, with chassis No. B-424-CF was produced in January 1948. The history card is available. The first registration took place on August 18, 1948 in England (MXP 181, Jeweler Harolo Samuel ESQ. / Westmoreland House). The Bentley was imported to Switzerland in November 1973. Various repairs and restorations were carried out over the following years. Corresponding documentation and receipts are available.
On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth ll, on April 27, 2002, this Bentley was a guest at the parade of the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club at Windsor Castle in England. The vehicles paraded through the courtyard of Windsor Castle. H. M. The Queen and H. R. H. The Duke of Edinburgh personally "ennobled" the rare vehicle. This four-door Bentley, Lightweight Saloon with sliding roof, is extremely well maintained, the leather interior is in excellent condition. The mechanics are in very good, well-kept condition. Such a rare Freestone & Webb with the special "razor-edge look" should not be missing from any Bentley collection. Extensive documentation documents the almost complete history of this unique vehicle.
