Tatra 77 - Streamlined V8
It looks like a Batmobile from behind, it was as expensive as a property and at the same time as fast as a racing car. It could transport six people comfortably and economically. The Tatra 77 revolutionized the automobile and yet was not successful. This vehicle report tells the story of the Tatra 77 and shows it in current and historical images, as well as in the sales literature of the time.
Although Tatra is primarily known for its rear-engined streamliners, front-engined models such as the Type 57 are also among the Czech car manufacturer's successes. With air cooling and a 180-degree V-engine, 25 hp and central tubular frame, the reliable and economical four-seater sold over 15,000 units. One of the most outstanding designers in post-war Czechoslovakia was Julius Kubinský. He became famous for his racing and sports car prototypes. His masterpiece is undoubtedly the "JK 2500" named after him, a super sports car built in the mid-fifties.
