The 911 Speedster based on the G model had been a surprise success, but the successor based on the 964 came late and only as a narrow version. However, anyone who really wanted one could still order a widebody version, and it was a pretty good investment, as only 15 were made. This report tells the story of the Porsche 964 Speedster and its rare wide brother, illustrated with many pictures.
The Porsche 964 Turbo appealed to Porsche buyers with its wide fenders, but was probably too expensive for many. As an alternative, the wide body could also be ordered ex works for a normal 964.
