Ogle is no stranger to connoisseurs of the English small-series sports car scene. The Ogle SX 1000 in particular, which was based on the Mini, made the company famous as a car manufacturer. However, Ogle was particularly successful in the design of vehicle prototypes and the construction of very small editions, an example of which is the Ogle SX 250, of which only two were produced, but which provided the basis for the Reliant Scimitar GT. This article goes into the development of the Ogle SX 250 and shows it in some illustrations, supplemented by the press release of the time.
Between 1962 and 1963, the Ogle company built 69 Mini-based Ogle SX 1000s. With their attractive plastic bodywork, these vehicles were intended to combine the advantages of the Mini with the fashionable look of a Granturismo. The result was convincing, but was difficult to sell due to the high price. This vehicle report portrays the sixth-last Ogle SX 1000 and tells the story of this rare British car, supplemented by two sales brochures and historical photographic material.
Exciting and elegant design does not always have to come from Italy, not even in the 1960s. The Ogle company was one of the trendsetters at the time and, with the Ogle Triplex GTS, it created a shooting brake that anticipated many a design direction and product development. The one-off from 1965 has survived and is now in Switzerland. This vehicle report shows the Ogle Triplex GTS in many pictures and explains how this show car came about in the first place.
