Mitsubishi built the Sapporo coupé from 1976 to 1984 and marketed it under various names around the world. From 1978, the elegant coupé also came to Europe, where it had to compete against the Opel Manta, Ford Capri and VW Scirocco, among others, and did not do badly at all thanks to its contemporary technology and good quality. This report portrays a Mitsubishi Sapporo 2000 GS/R from 1979 and describes the history and construction of the now very rare Japanese car, supplemented by historical photographs, brochures and a sound sample.
