In the seventies and eighties, the Mercedes W123 model series was an integral part of the everyday street scene. In addition to private individuals, its regular customers included cab drivers, who appreciated the comfort, reliability and durability of what was then the most successful model series. Today, the W123 is a popular classic, but there are no longer many of them in our part of the world, as some have been exported and are used as cabs or limousines abroad.
Between November 1975 and January 1986, 2.7 million vehicles of the 123 model series left the Mercedes Benz production facilities - no model series has ever been more successful. The entry-level model was the Mercedes Benz 200, which initially developed 94 and later 109 hp with a displacement of two liters and four cylinders. In most cases, it was poorly equipped, as comfort extras were expensive. But it was certainly durable. This report portrays the "small" Mercedes Benz 200 and tells the story of the W 123 series, supplemented with many current and historical photographs.
