The Ford 17M of the P7 series was built from 1967 to 1971 and sold a good 570,000 units, not enough to displace the competition from Opel. Today, well-preserved models of the P7 series are a rarity; this report shows a Ford 17M 1700S Turnier from the first year of production.

The magazine 'hobby' compared two completely different saloons in 1968, the Renault 16 TS from France and the Ford 17 M RS from Germany. While the Renault was made sporty with classic and careful tuning, the Ford was a modular car, but also one that had it all. This article reproduces the original wording of the comparison test at the time and shows the two very different vehicles and their counterparts in many archive photos.
