Ferrari 312 PB - The dominator
With a success rate of 100 percent within one season, the 312 PB is one of Ferrari's most successful racing cars. Chassis 0886, one of a total of seven cars built, was responsible for two victories in 1972. Ronnie Peterson and Tim Schenken's car is therefore one of the most important and is perhaps the most original of all survivors today. This article introduces it.
Around 40 years ago, Formula 1 racing cars were still comparatively simple vehicles and there were few secrets about their design principles. Most of them even used the same engine. In 1973, the magazine 'hobby' analyzed the leading Grand Prix cars. This report reproduces the original text and graphics of that article and supplements it with contemporary and current pictures of the vehicles mentioned, or rather their predecessors or successors.
The 1973 Ferrari 312 B3 Spazzaneve was never raced in a Grand Prix, but has almost miraculously survived in private hands. This report summarizes its history and shows it on the road today.
