Summary
With a success rate of 100 percent within one season, the 312 PB is one of Ferrari's most successful racing cars. Chassis 0886, one of a total of seven cars built, was responsible for two victories in 1972. Ronnie Peterson and Tim Schenken's car is therefore one of the most important and is perhaps the most original of all survivors today. This article introduces it.

Preview (beginning of the article)

The old regulations, which had been in place since 1970, had stipulated that Group 5 sports cars had to be built in a minimum quantity of 25 units and could have a maximum engine capacity of five liters. Group 6 prototypes did not have a minimum number of units, but were limited to three liters of displacement. With the new regulations valid from 1972, Group 6 then became Group 5, while the restriction to three liters of displacement remained in place. The number of vehicles built was also still left up to the manufacturers.
