Bonhams sold 64 of the 84 vehicles on offer at the Amelia Island auction on March 12, 2015 for a total of almost USD 14 million (CHF 13.8 million, EUR 13 million). An average of USD 215,566 was paid per car, including surcharge/commission. The sales rate of 76% can be seen as positive given the high expectations of the sellers. The specialists had estimated USD 100,000 to 150,000 for a little-used Ferrari 512 BB from 1980/1981, which according to the catalog was in largely original condition. In the end, however, the highest bidder paid USD 359,700 (CHF 360,479, Euro 338,923), almost three times as much. This Berlinetta Boxer is therefore likely to be one of the most expensive vehicles of its kind to date, as only the much rarer 365 GT4 BB has ever achieved such high prices.
