Silverstone "The Dawn of Motoring" Auction 2023 - rather disappointing
Summary
40 cars, a carriage and around a hundred automobilia, almost exclusively from the pre-war period, were auctioned on August 4, 2023 in Broadway between London and Birmingham. A good half of the vehicles were sold, albeit mostly at prices below expectations. More expensive cars were more likely to be left standing than cheaper offers ... This auction review analyzes the results and shows all the cars in the picture.

Pre-war cars are back in vogue, especially among young people, one could read recently in a British classic car weekly magazine. Whether this was more wishful thinking than reality could be seen at Silverstone Auctions' "The Dawn of Motoring Sale" on August 4, 2023, when around 100 automobilia, a carriage and 40 pre-war cars went under the hammer. The motorized vehicles were on average around 98 years old and came from 22 brands, some of which, such as Bentley, Dodge, Ford, Renault or Rolls-Royce, still exist today, but most of which, such as Chalmers, Morris, Lanchester or Wolseley, have long since passed away.
