Reo 1905-1936 - Olds without mobile
Summary
There were around 10,000 car brands and designers - most of them have disappeared. The American Reo Motor Car Company of Ransom Eli Olds, which was number three in the US car market as early as 1907, can be counted among these lost brands. Reo produced passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Some major technical innovations also came from Reo. As a result of the crisis, Reo had to give up the production of passenger cars in 1936.

There have been a number of brand founders in automotive history who lost the right to use their own name as a product designation. The best known among them were August Horch (new Audi brand), Louis Chevrolet (Frontenac) and the Maserati brothers (Osca). Ransom Eli Olds also fell out with his business partners and had to come up with an alternative brand for the new start. His Olds Motor Works in Detroit had achieved success with the low-priced Oldsmobile Curved Dash; but while R. E. Olds still relied on this single-cylinder, the majority owners saw the future of Oldsmobile in larger models.
