Preview (beginning of the article)
55 cars for EUR 74.3 million, which meant EUR 1.35 million per car. RM/Sotheby's had done another big job at the last auction as part of the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este and brought almost only super classics under the hammer on May 20, 2023. Although 10 of the cars, which were on average 48 years old, remained standing, the RM managers could certainly be satisfied with a sales result of almost EUR 52 million or EUR 1,148 million on average. 34 of the 55 cars had been announced without a reserve price, but with an average top bid of 87% of the median estimate, there were no unpleasant surprises for the consignors.
