Preview (beginning of the article)
John Dixon was certainly not your average car collector. He fell in love with the Porsche brand back in his high school days and began collecting anything he found interesting shortly afterwards. However, his love also spread to the Volkswagen brand, which ultimately formed the basis for the first Porsche models. Over time, a considerable collection of memorabilia and vehicles came together, which was auctioned by RM/Sotheby's on September 28, 2019 on behalf of Dixon's wife. A total of 33 vehicles went under the hammer, ranging from a BMW motorcycle with a VW engine to various Porsche and Volkswagen models and individual items that simply have something to do with Volkswagen and Porsche.
